Today doobong's wedding ceremony day.
Her husband is an officer of air force, so we could see several interesting events.
On the wedding march, the couple had to walk through the soldiers with raised long swords.
1st soldiers stopped them to let the husband push-ups.
then 2nd soldiers stopped them to let them kiss to the music.
finally 3rd soldiers stopped them to let them to sit down and stand up with saying, "Honey, today I'm yours!" "Aing, molla(I dunno.. ).

Looking back to last winter in Helsinki.
It's so hot still in september in seoul, so i miss the winter time in scandinavia.
I think I can say that it was my favourite travel destination. It's not too big and crowded like London, and I felt lost in direction most of time in Milan. Actually it was not too cold even in winter time in helsinki. Above all, there are many hot places abt art and design in Helsinki.
Kiasma is worth to visit to see the architecture itself.

Panetteria Princi in Milan
... Especially as architecture and food are directly related here. This project fuses the life elements - water, air, fire and earth, which are crucial to cooking and baking, just as they are to architecture ... In principle the Panettria consists of a single, large, lucidly articulated room where all the activities needed to make bread - one of our staple foods - and other baked goods, including selling and eating them, take place at the same time. Rigorous geometry is paired with warm colours and sensual materials: rough porphyry for the floor, rough stone blocks as counters and shaped as tables to stand at, earth-coloured brass panes as wall cladding, fire for baking - visible from everywhere, presented as a focal point - and of course wood, for the place where the kneading and baking take place. Baking as elemental, primal activity, something that is normally kept from our eyes, is deliberately thrust into the foregound, spatially intensified. It happens behind great panes of glass, and can be seen both from outside and inside. The division between manufacture and selling is removed. Both take place in the same space, on the same stage. And just as all the activities are spatially linked, so are all the materials closely related to each other.

Just 5 minutes from Duomo, we could get this modern, crowded bakery.
As the architect said, the space was for all social strata. It was a democratic space in which everyone feels good regardless of background or status. but you've got to dash to try their bread before lunchtime!

A magazine which I bought in triennale museo in milan.
They've got so many interesting surveys.
This was issue 15, July August 2008 which was including ranking the 25 most alluring places to live.
No.1? was Copenhagen.
The idea of the perfect city was created to identify their residents' happiness and well-being first.
How fun the place might be on a Tuesday evening, how many cinema screens are on offer and how little effort needs to be expended to jump on a bike, find a place to lay a towel, strip off, dive into a refreshing body of water and soak up the late summer sun.

recently finished..
Although gifted with a superbly logical brain, fifteen-year-old Christopher is autistic and everyday interactions and admonishments have little meaning for him. He lives on patterns, rules, and a diagram kept in his pocket. Then one day, a neighbour's dog, Wellington is killed, so Christopher sets out to solve the murder in the style of Sherlock Holmes...
However it's not a mystery detective novel. lovely eccentric story filled with humour and pain..

Rather than the architecture (it's national theatre in copenhagen), I like this an easy and composed attitude. They might have been busy, working on riverside, but at least they looked happier than one in office.

After my journey to Milan, I recognised there has been the same brand shop 10 corso como in Seoul. Although it's named by the address in Milan, it's still the same name in Seoul with different address.
Everyone seemed to like there except their prices, especially judy from NY got an idea for her bar. Who can deny its greenery space with design and arts??
We could make a day of it in its big complex, which includes the Galleryia Carla Sozzani, a bookstore, an boutique for men and women, and a cd shop. A cafe and a hotel 3 rooms are also in the same place. Sozzani was influenced by oriental bazaars. She was also inspired by Biba which is a boutique in London. It's famous for collection from new designers, they said Martin Margiela was first sold here, prada and lanvin also got popular since they were sold in 10 corso como.

Metamorphosis
When I saw this on the play list, I wondered how the conceptual idea of Franz Kafka could be materialised to a play. At last I booked two seats, and waited for almost 6 month to see.
It's about human existent and modern family. One day Gregor Samsa finds himself himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. He has been a diligent salesman who has the family responsibility. However his family could not stand the horrid body, they put him in his room. He tries to talk to them, but they just turn to be indifferent...
Vesturport Theatre has got a very good reputation on their creative and unique sensation. Particularly the main actor Gisly Orn Gardarsson who played the insect was brilliant. He was a promising apparatus gymnast, but turned his interests to the communication with his talent in the field of play. The insect cast wasn't be dressed up as an insect indeed. Actually the floor of his room was a wall, and the walls were actually floor and ceiling. Although he didn't do the insect make-up, he moved like the insect instead. He stayed sticking on the wall, floor lamp, and slided down the handrail of stair.

Sometimes I want to go back to the time when I studied drawing and sculpture. As I have worked in the field of architecture, I seem to forget all of those art things. When I first saw David Chipperfield's projects in plans and photos, I just found it cool or cold. I haven't been any of his projects, but this picture came to me with its warmness, and story. Come to think of it, I think I used to draw indoor space, but I never drew pictures which were focused on any buildings or something like facade. Yes, actually there were no buildings to draw here, but the state of mind could be expressed well when it was described through space. Why I reminded the time is this photo looks like a painting, not an architecture photo. Soft wall finish like touches on painting, heavy concrete bench which doesn't have a headachy detail, and the sunshine...

Living a long life is sort of another present for fans or audience, particularly as a maestro who had a hard time as a jazz musician. While most of the jazz musician had short lives, Sonny Rollins is almost 80 years old now, the god of jazz goes around the world for the music. Although he walked up with a limp on the stage,  he played saxophone for about 2 hours and conducted his band. It was of course different from something that I listened in local jazz clubs. As I listened his music, I felt all of the saxophone playing that I listened before were just something in cabaret or something. Although there were too much playing percussion, generally it could never be better.

While I still like the music which has lyric, sometimes electronic sounds attracts me.
In contrast with the last album, Bodily function, this brand new album SCORE has more diversified sounds.

A cafe in Louisiana museum of modern art, Denmark. After seeing inside and outside of the building, I had to have a rest. With the ocean view through wide glass window, it served cozy and warm atmosphere for visitors. I could find some familiar materials like wooden louver ceiling, brick floor, etc, as I worked with those material in 101arch.
Another photo for Moongchi fans. As you already know, he's got fans over the world.
It looks like a photo of postcard!! Last time in Copenhagen, I had to go alone to this beautiful amusement park, it was the shortcoming when I travelled alone.
Tivoli Park, Copenhagen

The entrance of church Temppeliaukio in Helsinki. It was too difficult to find here, so called "rock church", because it's covered with the natural rocks. The religious architecture wasn't shallow nor superficial like any other ones with only glamourous surface. Please look at the small cross, it is the only sign that you can recognise that it is a church.

27 March 2008

It looks like a lonely place with no one in the picture, but it's actually a subway station in Stockholm. People would come to the platform to pass more than any other place, so public space should be designed properly.
This humourous handrail detail looks like a standing person.

This one is my smallest project since I've worked in 101arch, but my favourite when I look back on. It is a wine cellar for vintage wines in winetime, so it has sloping shelves, and indirect LED lighting. All the walls are covered with glass door to not touch, but have air circulation gaps.

15 March 2008

Nefés means "breath" in Turkish. Pina Bausch described Nefés of Turkey as a dance. Turk women's Nefés was not that comfortable, nor easy. It is not easy to translate social issue into art, but she did it beautifully, if I can say that Turk women's human right is sort of social issue. Almost all scenes were directed gracefully, especially concerning water and dancer's hair. The music was nice at each scene, but most of it seemed to be a bit unrelated with the dance.
If you saw the film "Talk to her", then you have seen Pina Bausch's dance already.

I finally told my boss about my summer school, and am able to go to London and Milan. In 3 month's time, I'm going! Wait for me, mates!

Cesaria Evora, aka barefoot diva for her perfoming without shoes.
From a small country in Africa, she brought her sorrow, pain, and yearning. Her voice sounds generous like sea, and immense like the african continent.
The concert in seoul has canceled this week. I already booked the tickets, but it's too sad that I won't be able to see her nor listen to her song. She was on the world tour. During the concert in Sydney last week, she had a heart disorder so she had to stop all the schedule.

10 March 2008

Is there anyone who wants to go to James Blunt's concert??
It's on 26 April in Olympic Hall, Seoul. Let's go together!

06 March 2008

A reeeeeeally funny photo by mum.
Moongchi visited a gallery in Paris. -.-;;;;;;
It's for you, Jeni.
Even smiling moongchi's picture couldn't help me out.
I've really got to drop the class. I miss you and alec, and last mates.
I even want to break the wall and sit in James' class!
I'll never split up with you next time. ㅠㅠ

Bar Atelier
The Cocktail Aalto and an Aalto candleholder.
This bar is on top of a five-star hotel, Hotel Torni in Helsingki.
Although I could not understand why there were the transparent chairs by Philp Stock, and there weren't anything connected with Alba Aalto apart from the cocktail Aalto and glasses, it was a enjoyable place with its great night view.

Sense of place
Genius loci literally means genius place. It is used to describe places that are deeply memorable for their architectural and experiential qualities.

How young I was!! I have terrible memory but I can't forget every moments in Assisi in 2001. It was first journey by myself to Europe, although I regreted travelling alone since its first day. Good things would be better if it can be shared. Thankfully, I met some nice American guys, and I had my photo taken in front of St. Francesco.
Can you recognise who's design it is?
Approximatively 1 hour from centre of Copenhagen, you can visit here. Here is a cafe in Ordrupgaard museum.
It was built in 1918 as a country estate and showcase for insurance magnate Wilhelm Hansen's collection of French Impressionist and Danish paintings. A new building designed by Zaha Hadid attached to the old buildings recently.
Although peoples who know about her can recognise her buildings even from 100m away, it was challenging for me to look for. I amazed by its new concept with curves and black colour concrete which made me refresh.
Let's have a dinner at this restaurant of the museum next time.

Have you ever taken a photo of your dog like this? Actually it's taken by mum. Moongchi looks nervous, like he got lost on his travelling.
